Meet the family behind JAC Electric

Built by my dad.
Carried forward
by family.

Hi, I’m David. My dad’s journey started in Colombia and took him to Boston, where he worked as an electrician in industrial factories. His first paycheck bought a basic tool bag and a conduit bender.

With a baby on the way and English still to learn, he spent his nights studying electrical manuals, code books and business guides. In 2003, he moved to Mississauga. A year later, he founded JAC Electric with his tools and a small van.

Today, we carry that story forward as a father-and-son team. The work has grown to include EV charger installations, but our values remain the same: honest work, continued learning and care for the people who trust us with their homes.

Before you plug in.
Let’s clear things up.

Planning an EV charger installation in Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville or the GTA? Here’s what to know about pricing, your electrical panel and getting a quote.

How much does an EV charger installation cost?

Our installation price range is approximately $900–$3,800+. Your quote depends on the distance from the panel, the wiring route, available breaker space, charging requirements and how difficult it is to access the installation area.

A load-management device, panel upgrade or other additional electrical work can increase the total. Your written quote should confirm the scope, charger equipment, ESA fees and taxes before you book.

Can I install an EV charger with a 100 amp panel?

It may be possible. A 100 amp service does not automatically mean you need an upgrade. We need to assess your home’s electrical demand and the proposed charging setup first. Empty breaker spaces alone do not establish available electrical capacity.

Depending on the assessment, options may include using existing capacity, a suitable load-management system or a service upgrade.

What is EV load management, and would I need it?

Load management controls EV charging in response to other electrical demand. Depending on the system, it can reduce charging power or temporarily pause charging when the home needs that capacity.

It may allow a suitable EV charging setup without a service upgrade, but it is not necessary or suitable for every home. We assess your electrical system and charger compatibility before recommending it.

When does a 200 amp service upgrade make sense?

An upgrade may make sense when your existing service cannot support the planned electrical demand, or when you are planning other major additions alongside EV charging.

We can review your current needs and future plans before discussing an upgrade. Replacing a panel and increasing the home’s electrical service capacity are different scopes of work, so your quote should clearly explain what is proposed.

Do you install Tesla chargers and other EV chargers?

Yes. We install Tesla chargers and other home EV charging equipment. Tell us your vehicle model and the charger you own or are considering so we can review the installation requirements.

If you have not purchased a charger yet, get in touch before buying. We can discuss your available electrical capacity and preferred location as part of planning the installation.

Can you help with a condo or underground parking installation?

Yes—we can review your proposed installation. Condo projects need coordination with building management and may involve shared electrical infrastructure, parking access, a longer wiring route and arrangements for electricity billing.

Let us know the building address, your parking location and whether you have already spoken with management. We can discuss the next steps before quoting the work.

What information do you need for an installation quote?

Start with your city or postal code, vehicle model, charger model if known, and whether the charger will go inside or outside. Include the approximate distance between your panel and the charger location, your preferred timing and your budget.

Photos of the panel with its cover in place, the visible panel label and the proposed charger location can help. You do not need to remove the panel cover. An on-site assessment may still be needed to confirm the installation scope.

What areas do you serve, and who will I be dealing with?

We serve Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville and surrounding GTA communities. Include your postal code when requesting a quote so we can confirm your location.
