What affects the cost of installing an EV charger?
Wiring distance, the route from your panel to the charger, available electrical capacity and the charging equipment all affect the price. Finished ceilings, outdoor wiring routes or a detached garage can also change the scope of work.
Explore EV installation costs ↗Does having a 100-amp service mean I need an upgrade for an EV?
Not automatically. The answer depends on your home’s electrical demand and the proposed charging setup. An assessment may identify available capacity, a suitable load-management option or a need for a service upgrade.
Explore EV charging with 100 amps ↗Is upgrading to 200 amps just a panel replacement?
A service upgrade can involve more than replacing the panel. The required work depends on the existing service, meter equipment, panel location and how electricity reaches the property. JAC Electric assesses the setup before defining the scope.
Understand the service upgrade process ↗Where should I start when planning basement electrical work?
Start with how you intend to use the space: room layouts, lighting, receptacles and any planned kitchen or laundry equipment. Sharing those plans early helps us discuss the electrical scope before the renovation progresses.
Explore basement electrical work ↗What should I send JAC Electric to request a quote?
Send your location, a description of the work and photos of the project area. For EV charging, include the charger model if known, its proposed location and the approximate distance from the panel. Only take photos where safely accessible; leave electrical covers in place. We’ll let you know whether a site visit is needed.

Understand your electrical quote
Why Can Two Electrical Quotes Be So Different?
Electrical quotes can differ because contractors may be pricing different equipment, wiring routes or amounts of work. Before comparing the totals, check that both quotes cover the same installation, materials, fees and finishing responsibilities. A clear written scope makes the comparison much easier.
The Work Included
Check exactly what will be installed or replaced. For a panel project, ask whether the quote covers a panel replacement, a service upgrade or additional equipment. Those descriptions can represent different amounts of work.
The Installation Route
Cable distance and access affect the work involved. An EV charger beside the panel is a different project from one in a detached garage. Ask how the wiring will be routed and whether trenching or access through finished surfaces is included.
Equipment & Extra Costs
Compare the specified equipment and confirm who supplies it. Ask whether taxes, applicable ESA fees, utility charges and any required repairs are included or separate. Clarify exclusions before agreeing to the work.

Questions to Ask About Your Quote
Use these questions when comparing electrical quotes for your Mississauga or GTA home.
- What exact work, equipment and materials are included?
- Is the price inclusive of HST and any applicable fees?
- Who handles any required ESA notification and utility coordination?
- Who is responsible for patching, painting or restoring disturbed surfaces?
- What could change the price, and how will extra work be approved?
- What workmanship warranty is provided, and what does it cover?
